Structure (Timeline) of Music Video

December 11th 2012
Today I completed the structure of my music video. This will be beneficial to me when I come to shoot my music video as it will enable me to plan out the shots that I want much more efficently; in addition, as my music video idea includes people going in and out friend with different props it is key that I get the timing right therefore, this will help not only me but the performers.

Magazine Ad Planning

December 5th 2012
This week I have been working on planning my magazine ad; this is a two-paged magazine spread advertising the release of my artists album. The design of this magazine advertisement will be very important as it is what will initially sell the album therefore it has to convey the right vibe/atmosphere to the audience.

On the first half of the double paged spread, I have the image of the artist with the crown from the music video placed on her head, this makes a direct link to the music video and therefore illustrates the consistency of the theme between the music video, magazine ad and digipak design. The image of the artist is also on a white background and illustrates her wearing the same clothes she wore in the music video again directly relating to the music video, the gold crown against the white background immediately draws the attention the audience and therefore compliments the title of the song "King of Anything". The use of the bold colours in the artists outfit e.g. the red top connotes liveliness and an exciting atmosphere something that most pop artist attempt to portray.

On the second half of the double page spread are four arms coming from the right hand side of the page, each arm is holding a piece of card, on each piece of card illustrates and important piece of information about the release of the new album for example, the artist's name, the name of the album and the release date. In the design the artist (on the right hand side) is pointing towards the piece of cards, generally when readers open a magazine they automatically look at the left hand side of the page, by having the artist on the left hand side will immediately tell the reader who the artist is as pop artists are usually well known, it will then show the artist pointing to the right hand side of the page in which the key pieces of information about the album are displayed. Again, the arms holding the cards of detail relate directly to the music video as the idea of the music video is for different images and words to come into the frame via people (outside of the frame) bringing them in. Below the signs there are 3 social networking symbols Twitter, Youtube, and Facebook and a website for the magazine as the majority of the target audience will be on such sites and therefore this is illustrates a different method they can view the magazine and illustrates how I have considered the age of my target audience and how they are the age of technology and therefore what benefits and extra features can be included on the magazine.

Finally, in between both pages are two quotes from music critics, quotes/reviews on music is very important as its what most people will use to decide whether they will buy or listen to a piece of music; as a result, having two positing quotes positioned in the center of the stage illustrates how I have considered the impact of music critics in the industry and how bad word of mouth can affect an artist and their music.

December 1st 2012
Yesterday I finished my digipak planning, which took a little while to complete as I initially found it difficult to come up with ideas for a digipak directed towards the Pop genre. To overcome this I set up a small focus group of people within the age range of my target audience to discuss some of their ideas and suggestions for the digipak, I recorded down some of their comments and put this under the "Audience" section of my blog. This was really helpful as it help me develop my initial ideas and come up with ideas from my target audiences point of view that I wouldn't necessarily had of thought of myself. Therefore, I think this is a very beneficial and efficient way of not only getting new ideas but also getting some feedback directly from your target audience.

Digipak Planning

November 30th 2012
Over the past few days I have been working on the planning for my digipak. I have decided to do a 4-panel CD Digi Tray Pack which consists of a front and back cover, an inside cover, a design for the CD. The way the digipak looks is extremely important as it is one of the first things the target audience of the music video will see; therefore, it is important for the digipak to convey to correct image and atmosphere that I ultimately want to portray for the artist and her song.

Firstly, I decided that I would design my front cover with have the top half of the artists face with her eyes looking directly down the camera lens with a crown placed on her head as this immediately links with the single and the title of my music video "King Of Anything" as a result it directly relates and immediately becomes the main focus of the front cover. The idea of having the artists in the front cover illustrates how I am following the typical conventions of a pop music digipak as digipak's from the pop genre generally include the artists on the front cover as ultimately the artists image is what sells the music therefore I have incorporated this in some sense. The main colour evident in the front cover will be of the crown on the artists head which is gold, gold is a rich colour which once more connotes "King" and "Royalty" and therefore again directly relates to the name of the song; however, the colour gold is also considered to be very powerful and strong which represents the ultimate message/meaning behind the song which is the artists in control and how power of her own life.

The back cover of the digipak directly relates to the music video I will create. The idea of music video is to place the artist on a white background and have to additional people on either side of her to bring lyrics and different images into frame which link to the lyrics of the song. As a result, I decided that my back cover for my digipak would be the arms of these two people holding signs with the names of the music video titles on as it makes it consistent with the music video. The main colour scheme on the back of the colour would be black and white.

The inside front cover, will be an image of the artist wearing the crown in a strong and powerful. This is to reinforce that the artist has control of her life (again directly linking to the meaning of the song). In this shot the artist will be wearing the same clothes she will wear in the music video which is a the crown on her head, a red top with a printed pattern, navy leggings, and a pair of black heels. Again the idea that their is another image of the artist in the digipak is to reinforce how I have followed the conventions of a pop themed digipak.

Finally I have decided that the CD design will be very simplistic and include the consistent colour scheme of black, white and gold. The main disk will be fully white, with the text "King Of Anything" curved around the shape of the CD. Finally there will be a small boarder around the disk which will be gold continuing with the colour scheme and the overall theme of the music video. The reason I left the CD design to be simplistic, is because I didn't want to take the main focus away from the overall meaning of the music video which is how the artist is control of her own life and therefore I didn't want to steer towards the idea of it being about royalty/kings due to the crown as I acknowledged that the crown is a metaphor of the overall message.

November 20th 2012
Today I uploaded a storyboard for my music video which I had been working on. It is important for me to create a storyboard as when I come to shoot my music video I can refer to this to plan out what sort of shots that I want which coincide with the lyrics of the song. This could be in terms of the type of shot/the length of a shot/and if there is any movement with the camera e.g. Mid Shot - 10 secs - Pan left.

Overall, I do not have to completely follow this storyboard, as additional ideas for my music video can come about during the actual shoot, therefore, I look at this storyboard as a rough outline of what I am trying to achieve however still allowing myself to develop on it.

Storyboard Sheet

November 20th 2012
This week I have been working on creating my storyboard; this consists me drawing images that I want in each frame of the song. Within this sheet I note down what shot number coincides with the image, the type of shot I want, if there is any camera movement, and the dialogue and sound included. This is helpful for when I come to shoot my music video as I can refer to them during production.

The storybaord below, illustrates how I am attempting do a continuous one take shot with items (relating to the lyrics) coming in and out of frame - I got the inspiration for this from one of the music videos in my 'Music Videos That Inspire Me' post.

Editing Software

November 13th 2012
During the post production stages of my music video there will be a variety of different softwares that I will use, these include; Adobe Premiere CS3, Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Adobe After Effects CS3.

Adobe Premiere will be the main piece of software that I will use to edit my music video; with this program I can easily insert the raw footage onto the timeline and begin working with the tools provided in the program to edit the music video effectively. Some of the basic functions beneficial to me in this program are the ability to crop, cut, insert more than one piece of media e.g. song, edit lighting, contrast etc. As I have used this program in previous projects I am very familar with the tools and therefore I will find it relatively easy to use.

Adobe Photoshop will be the piece of software I will use to edit my digipak and magazine ad. Again there are a variety of different tools available to me to enable the digipak and magazine ads I create to look professional and of a high quality. Once more I am very familiar with this program as I have used it to edit pictures in the past.

The final piece of software that I will potentially use is After Effects; this is a program that enables you to add a varierty of different special effects to a piece of footage. I have only had some experience with this program therefore I am not familiar with all the tools available to me; however, I do have resources available to me to learn e.g. tutorials.

November 11th 2012
Today I completed an analysis of the lyrics of the song by the artists Sara Bareilles "King Of Anything" which I will be using in my music video. The purpose of this task was to go through all the lyrics of the song and analyse the meaning behind them, the reasoning for doing this is that it will be very beneficial for me when I need to create a storyboard for my music video as I can create the music video to portray the meaning or lyrics on screen. Analysing the lyrics also gives me a better understanding of the atmosphere or emotion to be portrayed by the artist in the song, as this something I will also consider while shooting my music video.

Lyric Analysis

November 11th 2012
Below I completed an analysis of the lyrics of my chosen song (Sara Bareilles "King of Anything") below. This is very helpful when I go to plan/storyboard my music video as this analysis has allowed me to break down what the lyrics mean and therefore enables me to portray this on screen. Lyric Analysis

November 9th 2012
Today I completed two tasks; a prop list of all the props that I will need to bring with me or create in time for the shoot of my music video, and I contacted the artist's (Sara Bareilles) music label to ask for permission to use her song in my music video.

The benefit of creating a prop list is so I can come to my shoot prepared and I can easily go through the list to make sure everything is ready and prepared for the day. The contact to Sara Bareilles's music label is to illustrate how I have considered copyright laws within the creation of music video.

Contact with Artist

November 9th 2012
Before using my chosen song (Sara Bareilles "King Of Anything") in my music video I have decided to contact the record label she is signed to, this is so I can ask permission to use the song in my work. This is because using a song without the artists permision abuses some copyright laws therefore, I have took it upon myself to email the label as it illustrates a sense of professionalism. I have took a screenshot of the email and included it below.

Prop List

Novemeber 9th 2012
In a few weeks I will begin to shoot my music video. Therefore below I have completed a props list of all the things I need to provide on the day of the shoot; this allows me to come to the shoot prepared and allows me enough time to obtain all the items needed.

Wednesday, 7 November 2012

November 7th 2012
So far this week I have completed two more tasks from the research section which are:
- Analysis of a previous students A2 work
- Artist styling/costume planning

The analysis of a previous students A2 work will enable me to look at what this previous student did to get the highest grade possible; for example I will be able to view their music video and take a look at what different camera angles, type of editing, and use of mise en scene.

The artist styling/costume planning is for me to plan what outfit my artist/performer will wear on the day of the shoot. When planning I considered, the colour and the type of clothing she will wear so that it will not only link with the Pop genre but it will relate to the target audience of my music video.

Artist Styling/Costume Planning

November 7th 2012
For my music video I want to give the artist a young and pop image to coincide with the song. As the majority of my music video will be shot infront of a plain white screen I have to represent the upbeat atmosphere through my artists clothing however not being to eccentric for the situation in the video. I have decided that the first piece of clothing will be a pair of black and white striped leggings that I already have available. The reason for my choice is because it is a piece of clothing that is eye catching for most people as they are not the usual plain black colour and Pop music is all about being fun and different. In addition, these kind of leggings are currently a fashion trend for many young females and therefore the target audience can make a direct link with this.
I have a few ideas for the top half of my performers outfit these include:
- An over the shoulder top (where it will slightly hang off one shoulder)
- Crop sweat tee/baggier shirt of the same style
- Crop sweat jumper
All of the above are again already accessible to me therefore I will not need to go out and buy this piece of clothing. I have suggested the above because I feel all three would combine well with the pair of leggings.

The shoes that I have chosen is a pair of dark red vans to add some colour to the outfit because even though I want this outfit I still wanted to add some colour to it so it fitted more with the Pop genre as they are none for having very vibrant colours in their outfits.
Finally I also have to consider the make up of the artist to illustrate this I went online and found a face chart similar to what I am trying to achieve and have annotated it.

Analysis of CD Magazine Ads

November 2nd 2012

Katy Perry

This CD magazine advert is for the artist Katy Perry who falls into the Pop genre. Within this advert a lot of bright and vibrant colours have been used to appeal to the female and sometimes young audience that Katy Perry targets e.g. it has been used in the clothing she is wearing and has been used on the text that is on the write hand side of the page she has also continued the "candy theme" that she has incorporated througout her album. The style and colours she has used for the text makes it stand out from the image in the background "Katy Perry" is the brightest of colours as its in a vibrant pink it is also in a bigger size and a different font from the other text on the page allowing it to draw the audiences attention; therefore, as Katy Perry is a mainstream artist her name will immediately be recognised. Below her name there is a small image of her album and below that is a piece of text reading "The album includes the #1 smash hit" this a persuasive technique to get audiences to buy the album from the artist; the idea that this text is white makes it very contrasting from the other pieces of text  on the page and from the background image. Overall this advert is very "happy" and "bubbly" ultimately fitting in with the Pop genre.

Gwen Stefani

This magazine advert is of the artist Gwen Stefani who also falls into the Pop genre. The main focus of this advert is the picture of the artist that takes up the majority of the ad the artist is wearing a variety of white clothing suggesting she is innocent this is complemented by the silver crown and sceptre she is holding in her hands and the royal thrown she is sitting on illustrating her wealth - this is a direct link to one of her songs included in the album "Rich Girl" and the reasoning behind the colour scheme of Gold. The thrown has been edited so it appears slightly blurred out compared to the artist this is so the main focus is on Gwen Stefani. Just below the image reads the artists name "Gwen Stefani" in big letters; the text is gold and the font once more fits with the royal theme as it incorporates a sophisticated writing style. The idea of having the gold lettering infront of a white back image allows the text to stand out and therefore draw the audiences attention to the name and enabling them to recognise the artist immediately. Just below the artist name is the name of the album in the same text and two singles that are included on the album, both of these singles were hit songs that were in the charts before the album was released this is a persuasive techinque to get audiences to buy the album as the likelyhood of them recognising these songs are high. To the left of this text there is a small image of the album cover, this is to give the audience an insight into what the album looks like before they buy it, this is so they will also recognise what the album looks like when they go to buy it in the shops. Finally the shop it is available at is mentioned at the bottom of the magazine advert which reads "Target" telling the audience immediately where they can go and get themselves a copy of this album.

Beyonce

The CD magazine advert above is of the artist Beyonce who is mainly known for R&B and Soul however some of her songs fit into the Pop genre. Once more the majority of advert is taken up by an image of the artist Beyonce which is actually the album artwork used on the album that is being advertised immediately enabling the audience to recognise the album in the shops. The artist is in a revealing outfit which is complimented with a strong and provocative pose suggesting she is an independant and strong woman and overall appealing to her audience of male and females. The artist's name is relatively small and is positioned middle right of the advert; this is potentially due to Beyonce being a mainstream artist therefore she would be a very well known artist in the music industry and recognised. The main focus of this magazine advert is the released date which is a bold and capitalised font at the bottom however the release date is much larger and bolder; therefore reinforcing what I previously stated about her being a mainstream artist and potentially having a big fanbase.

October 31st 2012
This week I have completed to more task from the research section, these include:
- Analysis of music videos from the same genre (in terms of Camera - Mise en scene - Editing - Narrative)
- Audience Research (Target audience, Uses and Gratifications Theory)

The analysis of music videos from the same genre required me to look at the above four elements and how they ultimately make the music video successful within the music industry and towards their target audience. Therefore, this will benefit when I create my music video as I will consider these elements and additional ones such as the use of colour, props, clothing etc.

The audience research task involved me looking at who I believe the target audience for my music video will be in terms of age and gender, I have also looked at the potential reasons behind my audience will view my audience e.g. in the task I explained many of my audience will still be in school so viewing my music video will allow them to have some escapism from the work they are studying on.

Audience Research

October 31st 2012
The target audience that I have chosen for my music video are females between the age range  of 13-25 (however my music video would be suitable for a male audience who would want to watch the music video); therefore, my music video would appeal to teenagers and young adults. I have chosen the lower end of the age range to be 13 as by this age they generally have chosen what type of music they listen to and they have just entered high school therefore things like friendship and crushes are created (generally what pop songs are about). Additionally, a lot of young girls will aspire to be like the artist in my music video. I have chosen the higher age range in my target audience to be 25 this is because pop music still appeals to young adults and is ultimately used as a form of escapism as the majority of them will be in school/uni/work therefore this kind of music is what they can relax to let the hair down to.

In terms of social class my music video will suit the B-C2 demographic as the parents of my target audience are likely to be working in middle/middle lower class jobs such as intermidate manager, supervisor, clerical etc; once more this introduces the uses and gratifications theory as audiences are likely to watch this music video for escapism and entertainment.

As I am creating a music video in the Pop genre which derives from the term "popular" means that the psychorgraphics of my audience would be 'mainstream' this is because, a large majority of pop music are in the charts, become internationally popular and therefore appeal to a very large audience an example of this is that radios such as Capital FM have a chart segment called 'Big Top 40' in which the majority of songs on the list are Pop therefore illustrating the extent of how these songs are so popular.

Analysis of music videos (same genre)

October 31st 2012
This task involved me finding two music videos from the same genre and analysing four different elements of the videos; these included:
  • Location
  • Mise-en-scene
  • Camera
  • Narrative
Within these four areas I analysed the choices made for the music videos and how or why they conform to the conventions of pop music videos and succesfully portray pop music artists. The two music videos I chose were One Direction "Kiss You" and Katy Perry "Last Friday Night" as I believe both are great examples of a successfull pop music video.

This document will help me when I eventually shoot my music video as I will remember to include all four elements. The document I completed is below.

- Research into pop genre (how music videos are different from then and now)
- Pop Theory (convention, uses and gratifications)
- Music videos that inspire me

Music Videos that interest/inspire me

October 29th 2012
For this task I went on Youtube and found a few videos that I admire and/or influenced by and have written a brief description below each one.

- Bruno Mars Medley:

What I like about this music video is the continuous interaction the performers have with the camera in addition to this I really like the idea that the music video is a continuous shot where the camera is moving in and out of different rooms in the house. Overall, this is a very basic idea however it is still effective.

- Taylor Swift: We are Never Ever Getting Back Together:

This is another video where the performer is continuously interacting with the camera as the artist goes around the house. The artist Taylor Swift has used "pop elements" such as a catchy hook, repetitiveness in the chorus etc; additionally, a lot of bright colours have been used in the music video in terms of clothes and props. In addition to this the music is very upbeat and what I like is that it builds up near the end of the song which is something that I want to include in my music video.

- Justin Bieber: Beauty and a Beat:

The final music video that I have chosen is by the artist Justin Bieber like the previous two he has taken the interaction one step further with him actually holding the camera in the majority of the music video. When I did my research on the pop genre I found that a lot of pop songs have catchy hooks, beats, and dancing all three are evident in this music video and therefore is something that I will consider when creating my music video. Again a lot of bright and vibrant colours have also been used in this music video as a result I will consider this when thinking about the mise en scene in my music video e.g. clothing, make up, props, location etc.

Music Theory

October 26th 2012
Today I completed a powerpoint on Music Theory, I looked at the 'Uses and Gratifications Theory' which is about why people use pieces of media, I researched Laura Mulvey and 'The Male Gaze' and finally 'Andrew Goodwins' theory. This is useful as it will enable to include some of these aspects in my music video when I go to create e.g. the 5 key features in Andrew Goodwin's theory

Research into pop genre

October 23rd 2012
Below I have completed a Prezi where I have reasearch the genre Pop. This is beneficial to me as it explains how pop music take a lot of influence from other genres in the music industrt, it I have also found that Pop music has heavily develop due to technology improving.

Friday, 19 October 2012

October 19th 2012
This week and last Friday I completed three more tasks; two under the 'Planning' section and one task from the 'Research' section, these three tasks included:
- A mood board: This is beneficial as it will give me an insight into the possible choices I have with clothes, props and colours when creating my music video
- My initial idea: In this task I wrote up what my initial idea for my music video was, as this is a "initial" idea I am able to develop this idea in the future.
- Research into possible equipment choices: This is beneficial to me as I know have I full understanding of what equipment is available to me when I go to shoot my music video and how each piece of this equipment is used.

Possible Equipment Choices

October 19th 2012
Below is a video about the possible pieces of equipment I can use on my music video shoot, I created the video on Adobe Premiere. This task is useful as when I come to plan my music video e.g. storyboard I can refer to this so I know what piece of equipment I have access to.

Initial ideas

October 16th 2012
The task below illustrates my initial ideas for my music videos I have bullet pointed these and but them in to a PowerPoint. These are the basis of the idea I have and because they are my initial they can slightly be altered.

Mood board

October 12th 2012
Below is a mood board that includes images to do with the music genre Pop. I have included clothes make up, and props in the mood board which I could potentially use in my music video, a lot of the images are very bright and vibrant colours therefore this is something to consider when I go to create my music video.

Codes and conventions of pop music video

October 4th 2012
Below is the codes and conventions of a pop music video I redone this slide as previously I had based the slide on the music genre Indie however recently I have changed my choice in genre.

October 4th 2012
During the week I had been basing a lot of my research tasks on the music genre indie; however, I have recently decided that I would like to create a music video that would be in the Pop genre. This is because Pop music videos have the perception of being "too cheesy" and therefore I would like to challenge myself to create a successful pop music video. Therefore I have redone the codes and conventions for a particular music genre (it is now Pop) and I will re-upload this task to my blog.

Codes and conventions of a music video

October 3rd 2012
Below is a PowerPoint presentation on the 'Codes and Conventions of a Music Video' within this powerpoint I look at what codes (technical, verbal/written, symbolic) and conventions (expect to see in a music video) actually mean, next I researched the different forms of a music video and finally I looked at the typical codes and conventions of a music video in the indie genre. The purpose of this piece of research is that it will enable me to follow a few of the typical codes and conventions when I come to shoot my music video as I can use this to refer back to later on.Codes & Conventions of a Music Video

- PowerPoint presentation on the codes + conventions of a music video
- Research into a band or artist that I have chosen

Saturday, 22 September 2012

September 22nd 2012
Overall this week I have completed the three tasks that I set myself as a target, next week during lesson I will go on to create 2-3 more targets as this enables me to keep on track with completing the different research tasks.

The last task that I have recently completed is the research on current music channels. Overall, this topic was interesting to research as I gained more knowledge of how music videos are exhibited, over the years the general way to exhibit a music video is through music channels that are available on TV; however, in more recent years music channels are becoming available online as we become more and more engrossed in the development of technology, in addition music videos are being displayed on online video sharing websites such as Youtube.

Music Channels

September 22nd 2012
Below is the PowerPoint presentation I completed on Music Channels.

Friday, 21 September 2012

September 21st 2012
Earlier this week I set myself the target to finish three tasks from the research task, so far I have only completed two tasks which I have presented in one prezi; as a result, I will now have to finish the final task this weekend as I want to stick to my goal of finishing three - the final task will be a PowerPoint presentation on current music channels such as MTV.

Overall, I think setting myself goals each week is a good technique to use as it will enable me to keep on top of all the research tasks and to complete them much faster then just finishing one a week; therefore, I will continue to set myself goals every week and I will input these into my diary entries throughout the week and discuss my progress.

What is a digipak & Analyse current digipaks

September 21st 2012
This week I set myself a target to complete three tasks from the research list. The Prezi below includes to tasks "What is a digipak?" and to 'Analyse Current Digipaks'. Within this prezi I include a definition of a digipak and give an example, I then go on to analyse three digipaks from the artists 'Lady Gaga', 'Katy Perry' and 'Mumford & Sons' I tried to get a range of artists from different genre's so I could get an idea how different artists from different genres try to attract their audiences.

Tuesday, 18 September 2012

September 18th 2012
This week I have set myself a target to complete three more tasks from the research list that we have to complete before we can officially plan our music video, so I can remain to stay organised.

The three tasks that I am aiming to complete are:
- A Prezi on Digipaks - this will include two tasks which are:
          - "What is a Digipak?"
          - "Analyse current Digipaks"
- A PowerPoint presentation on Music Channels.

All three of these tasks will be uploaded to my blog when I have completed them.

Friday, 14 September 2012

September 14th 2012
Overall, this week I have completed two tasks which include a prezi on small and big music labels in the music industry and I have  completed a presentation on the music video director Jonas Akerlund.

As a whole both these tasks will benefit me in some way when I come to create my music video or plan it. For example the research on the music video director Jonas Akerlund will be beneficial as it has enabled me to find out what music videos he has directed and it has allowed me to look at why some of theses music videos became so successful e.g. Lady Gaga's "Telephone". Therefore, I can then reflect my findings when it comes to planning my music video or the creation of it.

Music Director

September 14th 2012
Below is that task I completed as a Powerpoint presentation on the music director 'Jonas Akerlund'. Within this task I looked at some background information about Akerlund and the music videos he has worked on as a director.

Wednesday, 12 September 2012

September 12th 2012
Yesturday I uploaded a prezi on the research I done on current music labels. I have now completed two research tasks; therefore, I will go on to finish some others experimenting with different forms of media such as videos, slideshows, presentations etc. Today I have been working on music labels and the history of them, I have decided that this will be presented in the form of a slideshow presentation which I will upload on my blog when completed.

This task enabled me to look at the difference between small music labels (independent) and big music labels and what different types of artists are signed to them and how this effects what sort of recognition and/or success the artist(s) have.

September 11th 2012
Over the past week I have been working on some research documents. Recently I completed a prezi about current Music Labels; these included a combination of big institutions and small institutions. Within this research I found out some basic information about each music label and some statistics I then looked at what artsits are currently signed to them.

WEDNESDAY July 18th 2012
This week we began thinking of ideas for our music video, some of the ideas that I came up with included:
- A live performance using the multicam
- Lyrics music video - the performer is still in the music video but lyrics will come up in certain places
- A narrative music video where the lyrics directly relate to the action in the music video.

FRIDAY July 6th 2012
Research:
Below is the research I completed on the ‘History of Music Videos’ within this piece of work I took a look at the first ever music video released, I also went through the different forms e.g. short film, cartoon/animation and purposes of music videos e.g. to promote a movie. I then went on to research how music videos have gone on to develop.

WEDNESDAY July 4th

This week I have been completing my research on 'Music Video History' I have presented this piece of work on a prezi. This task involved me researching the first ever music video released, the purposes of music videos and how this has changed throughout time, and finally how music videos have developed and how the development of technology has been a key factor in this.

This tasks gives me more knowledge and understanding on how music videos have changed and developed over time due to influences such as technology and how I can therefore reflect such development in my music video so it can relate to audiences in the modern day.
